Great things happen when we work together..

Martin’s Haven is a shining example of what the generosity and commitment of the local community can do. Martin’s Haven became reality when a local business man, provided a no-strings-attached, long term loan of $170,000 toward the purchase of a supported accommodation facility in Upper Caboolture, Haven House. The remainder of the funds were appropriated through special arrangements with the Morayfield branch of Westpac bank.

The Caboolture/ Morayfield community got behind the project, including: Lions Foundation Australia (Kallangur, Morayfield), Apex Australia (Caboolture), Rotary Int'l (Caboolture), Caboolture Community FM Radio Association (Radio 101.5 Caboolture), Zonta Int'l (Caboolture), Caboolture Sports Club Inc, as well as many many local businesses, individuals and volunteers.

Located in a former bed and breakfast facility, Martin’s Haven is a five bedroom house, with two self-contained flats attached to the main premises. Situated on two acres, the property features a number of quite areas. Residents make rental contributions each week.

The gardens are beautifully cared for, and the residents enjoy a sense of community which is nurtured by Martin’s Haven environment.

Recently the Haven received a Community Innovation Award for its work at Martin’s Haven. Westpac Local Business Banker, Attila Monostori, presented the Award, saying "The Community Innovation Award was created especially to recognise the rare dedication that The Family Haven delivers selflessly to the community".

He went on to say that the creation of Martin’s Haven “was an innovative approach” and rare, as similar organisations seldom buy investment properties on their own. He affirmed the Martin’s Haven project as “a successful model, generating great interest from other non-profit organisations".

Now we’re dreaming bigger..

We have a bold and growing vision to meet our community’s greatest needs - crisis housing,
and affordable short term housing. On of our aims is to locate another 4 houses on the site
through the support of community organisations, businesses and volunteers.

In order to get this project started, we are aiming to raise $35,000-$40,000 to cover preliminary work, Council Approvals etc and begin the next stage of several to come. See the bottom of this page for a larger image.

For the remaining brickwork, building work, tiling, electrical, landscaping, roofing and various sub-trades, finishes and supplies we believe our community will once again get behind us to bring this dream into reality.
